Why choose our public preschool?

Kooloora Preschool is a NSW Department of Education dedicated Aboriginal preschool with applications welcome from all. This is a free service. It is located in the grounds of Toukley Public School.

Kooloora Preschool has been rated by ACECQA as EXCELLENT. This is a highly prestigious achievement with only 27 out of over 6000 preschools in all of Australia attaining this level, only 13 of these being in NSW.

Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework we support each child to build a strong foundation for life and learning, and a confident transition to primary school. At our preschool, children explore, ask questions and grow in a safe and caring place. Our qualified Early Childhood Teacher and Cert. III educator team help each child learn and feel good through fun, hands-on play that builds confidence and curiosity.

Preschool days and hours

Our preschool is open for 6 hours a day, 9am-3pm, on the same days as all NSW public schools. To learn about our preschool hours, please contact us.

Fees

We do not charge fees to attend our preschool. NSW public preschools are funded by the NSW government.

Attendance

Public preschools enrol children for one year only, the year before they start school.

Meals

Children bring their own meals and snacks to preschool. For more information, please contact us.

How to enrol

Unlike NSW public schools, there are no intake areas for public preschools.

As a designated Aboriginal preschool, priority for enrolment is given to Aboriginal children.

Enrolling in a preschool within a school does not guarantee a place at that school for Kindergarten.
