The final in "The Lion Peter Foster" public speaking competition was held recently and the eight finalists presented outstanding speeches. In the first round of the final the participants were asked to present a two minute talk on the topic of their own choice. For round two they were given 10 minutes to independently prepare and present a one minute talk on the topic of "Facebook".
The judges for the competition were Mr Murray Ellis (ex Toukley Public School teacher) and Ms Wendy Wilson. After much deliberation Mr Ellis and Ms Wilson found the winner to be Peta-Louise Rixom. First prize in the competition is a scholarship to help provide uniforms and school equipment for High School.
The wife of the late Peter Foster kindly provides our school with this scholarship in memory of her husband. The competition has been instrumental in enhancing our public speaking program.
It was quite a close competition and congratulations must go to the other finalists who presented excellent speeches. The other finalists were: Daniel Brands, Joel Shortland, Harry Packham, Jotrdan McBride, Alexis Khoury, Nicola Barons and Kirra Willett.
