3-6S are an exciting, clever, kind and caring group of students that love their time at Toukley Public School. The children access each of the Key Learning Areas through a modified curriculum designed specifically to suit their needs. To assist them in their learning they are supported by a dedicated Learning Support Officer and Teacher. The students of 3-6S enjoy their time at school and work hard to achieve the stage outcomes highlighted in their Personalised Support Plans.
Each week they work on developing their Literacy skills with a regular regime of sight word recognition, learning to spell topic words and developing an understanding of sentence structure. They are also working towards developing their listening, talking and reading skills and are becoming very good at retelling their stories. In Mathematics they are learning to use their knowledge of number facts and consolidating their understanding of the basic operations, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. To support their learning they are using number lines, problem solving techniques and a wide selection of concrete materials. 3-6S love art activities. They enjoy to experimenting with different artistic mediums but their favourite activity is painting.
Every Monday morning 3-6S discusses one of the school rules and then they spend the rest of the week practising the rule as they go about their normal weekly activities. On Fun Day Friday the children have sports and outdoor activities. This helps them as they continue to develop their spatial awareness, social skills, their large muscle development, balance, and hand-eye co-ordination.
